Keiki Classes

Lenalena

Saturday · 10:00am – 11:00am · ʻŌpio ages 13–18

For ʻōpio ages 13–18. Students continue mastery of hula basics for traditional and modern styles. Focus on advanced choreography, oli, and the Hālau Kaulakahi style of hula.

Momi

Saturday · 9:00am – 10:00am · Keiki ages 7–12

For children ages 7–12 to build on hula basics. Students learn traditional and contemporary dances requiring more challenging movement and hula implements. Taught with Hawaiian customs and traditional values.

Pa'alima

Saturday · 8:15am – 9:00am · Keiki ages 3–7

For the young beginning dancer, ages 3–7. Children are introduced to hula with basic hand and foot movements, learning ancient and contemporary hula as well as simple Hawaiian language through chant and song.

Wahine Classes

'Alīlea

Wednesday · 6:30pm – 7:30pm · Ages 18 and up

Performance class by invitation only, ages 18 and up. Intermediate students advance to the performance group upon Kumu's assessment. Students master the Kaulakahi style through advanced choreography. Requires commitment to performances and competitions.

Kahelelani

Monday · 5:30pm – 6:30pm · Kūpuna ages 60 and up

Kūpuna class for ages 60 and up. Age-appropriate skill building with light hand and foot movements, song interpretation, basic Hawaiian language, and hula expression. Hawaiian culture and values of ʻohana practiced with aloha.

Kipona

Monday · 6:45pm – 8:00pm · Ages 18 and up

Entry level class for all new adult students 18 and up, regardless of previous hula experience. Introduces traditional and contemporary hula basics, hand motions, dance posture, and basic Hawaiian language through chant and song.

Kāne Classes

Kahakaha

Wednesday · 7:30pm – 8:30pm · Kāne ages 13 and up

For men ages 13 and up. Focuses on basics of traditional and modern hula, oli, and choreography. Includes Hawaiian language, cultural traditions, protocol, and interpretation of chants and songs. Athletic and challenging.

Online Classes

Pōʻakahi Papa Hula

Monday · 9:00am – 10:15am · All ages

Online intermediate class. Instruction of hands and feet, traditional songs. Previous knowledge of hula basic steps recommended. Classes are ongoing — one verse of mele learned each week until the song is completed and reviewed.

Pōʻakolu Papa Hula

Wednesday · 11:00am – 12:15pm · All ages

Online advanced class. Instruction of hands and feet, traditional and contemporary songs. Previous knowledge of hula basic steps recommended. Classes are ongoing — one verse of mele learned each week until the song is completed and reviewed.
